Special Presentation with Fine Artist, Warren Chang

Saturday, August 8 from 2 - 3:30 p.m. At the Santa Cruz Art League in the Broadway Playhouse

"This slide lecture will focus upon my journey as an artist from the very beginning: starting from my first job out of art school and my long career as an illustrator, followed by my transition to fine art. The primary difference between illustration and fine art, is in illustration you are told what to paint for commercial purposes, in fine art, the artist decides what to paint. In fine art, the artist expresses their deepest emotions and thoughts.

One facet that has remained consistent throughout my 45 years as an artist, is commitment to storytelling or narrative painting, which I will share the process during my lecture. My art has developed through the years, primarily in regards to intent and meaning, emphasis on my paintings having a social purpose. " - Warren Chang

The Santa Cruz Art League will sell tickets at a sliding scale rate closer to the date of the event. Tickets will go on sale once the 95th Annual Landscape Exhibition is open to the public on Wednesday, July 15. If you have questions, please reach out to admin@scal.org and our team will assist you.
