Art has a unique ability to connect generations, carrying stories, traditions, and creativity from one family member to the next. This three-week exhibition celebrates those connections by featuring the work of two local artistic families: the Eckerman family and the Offerman-Sims family. In the Spotlight Gallery, visitors will also discover the work of the Cherk sisters, another talented local family of artists whose creative practices enrich our community.
The title, Mystery Work, refers to the artistic process: one starts with an inspiration, an idea, an emotional response. By doing the work, one creates something material which is most often a surprise. That is the mystery and delight of it.
