María Ayllón is a watercolor artist and instructor and fine art photographer based in the redwood forests of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Her work focuses on capturing the quiet, atmospheric soul of California’s landscapes, forest transitions, and botanical subjects. Emphasizing a genuine, grounded aesthetic over rigid perfection, María uses fluid washes and granulating pigments to translate light and complex mood into evocative forms. Drawn to themes of stillness and presence, her practice invites viewers to pause, breathe, and find peace in the natural world.
