Artist Bio:

Gerald declared himself an artist in 1967, after completing Which Road?, a pen and ink drawing. His grandmother’s beautiful oil paintings inspired the young artist.

In 1974, he received a B.S. in Chemistry from UC Riverside. During 1976–1978, he was a Peace Corps volunteer teaching Chemistry in Kenya, East Africa. His watercolor skills improved as he captured new and exciting subjects. He completed an around-the-world trip traveling through Asia to San Francisco after he completed his assignment.

He studied Illustration at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco and worked as an analytical chemist. Eventually, he was all-in with Chemistry and in 1988, received a Master of Science in Chemistry from San Francisco State University. For the next 24 years, he worked in the analytical chemistry and computer software fields.

In 2013, he retired and began to work in the arts full-time. His loving wife Winnie suggested he build art studios for their mutual use. Now, they enjoy pursuing their artistic paths together.

He seeks to improve his observational skills. He combines abstract and figurative methods to achieve his artistic results. His ability to visualize abstract concepts enables him to infuse a unique quality into his work.
