We are proud to host the preview exhibit for the 39th annual Open Studios! Visit our gallery to see a selection of works from artists across the county who are participating in this years studio tour, or come to our public reception to meet the artists themselves. All work at the exhibition is for sale. Pop into the gallery, find artwork that intrigues you, and note which studios you want to visit.

About the Open Studios Art Tour:

This October, Arts Council Santa Cruz County proudly presents the 39th annual Open Studios Art Tour. This free, self-guided event features 300+ artists working across 18 mediums, opening their studios and creative spaces to the public throughout the county. In its 39th year, over 40 first-time artists are participating, and over 100 studios offer artist demonstrations. Open Studios exemplifies how the arts drive our local cultural economy while contributing to the vibrancy and health of our local community.

Jim Brown, Executive Director of Arts Council Santa Cruz County, emphasizes, “The arts are the heart and soul of our community. The level of community engagement at the annual Open Studios Art Tour speaks to the importance of creativity in our culture and demonstrates how the arts significantly contribute to our local economy, driving cultural tourism and fostering social enrichment.”

Connect with artists, see their creative processes up close, and buy art directly from the source. This year marks the final tour produced by Ann Ostermann, who has been at the helm for 20 years. This year will be the last for retiring Open Studios and Events Director, Ann Ostermann - “I’ve had the honor of producing this tour for the last 20 years. Open Studios gives visitors an inside look at the artistic process – there’s just nothing better than meeting an artist in person and seeing where they make their art!”

Event Dates and Locations:

Preview Show: September 27 - October 20, Santa Cruz Art league

Studio Tours: 11am to 5pm. Studios are divided between North and South County (with the Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor as the dividing point) on the following schedule:

● Oct. 5-6: North County artists - from the yacht harbor north

● Oct. 12-13: South County artists - from the yacht harbor south

● Oct. 19-20: All County - featuring 250+ artists across the county
