Mastering the fundamentals of drawing will improve your abilities in any art media. In this class, you’ll combine drawing from life with visualization exercises to really help you “see” in your mind. You’ll be able to apply lessons from this course to your own work, and enhance your drawing skills by exploring several dry media. Observation, form, perspective, proportion and value will all be addressed, preparing you to take on your most ambitious projects with confidence.

Meet the Instructor:

After earning her bachelor’s degree in painting with a minors in drawing and art history from the Savannah College of Art and Design, Laurel worked as a muralist and decorative painter around the San Francisco Bay Area for six years. She rediscovered her passion for drawing during the three summers spent working as a retail caricature artist at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. In her current work, Laurel finds inspiration in the human form, looking for what is beautiful and strange in every subject. She works mostly in colored pencil or acrylic paint.

Laurel has lived in Santa Cruz since 2009, teaching the occasional class and seeking out quiet drawing time.
