These two and three day events are fun and exciting and open to all. Let well-known, established artists help you brush up on technique, or teach you new methods and procedures. Introduction to Abstraction (Painting medium of your choice)
This workshop is for anyone interested in the process of art with the
focus on development of personal aesthetics. It is sensitizing oneself
to two dimensional organization using the tools of color, texture,
area division, illusion of motion, contrasts, etc. It is allowing
yourself to create "using forms that have little connection with
observable reality." Instructor: Mary Brooks As a painter and
experienced teacher Mary has a BFA from Rhode Islands School of
Design, 3 years of graduate printmaking, taught life drawing at
Indiana University. She is founder of the Studio School of Fine Art,
Bloomington, Indiana.Brooks taught at Capitola Activities for many
years. Her paintings are in collections nationwide.Offered: September

Assemblage
Permanently assemble your personal collection of interesting objects
in wooden boxes. You will receive instruction on design, color,
attaching items, and how to know when your arrangements are completed.
The workshop is an easy hands-on, creative exploration of intriging
sculpture art. Instructor: Dore Bodenheimer Dore has been creating and
exhibiting her assemblages for over 18 years. Her work has been
included in numerous juried shows throughout the US Offered: October

Watercolor
Using people and the still life as our subject matter, we will explore
various topics such as materials, drawing, design, framing. You will
learn how to keep your color clean, your washes luminous and your

Painting with Passion: Abstract Figure Painting
Working directly from live models, come and explore new approaches to
figure painting. This two day workshop will develop your awareness of
abstraction, gesture and personal color harmonies to enhance your
