Watercolor
This class offers demos, directed paint-alongs, gentle critique, and
lots of fun. We may paint landscapes, still life,
florals, animals or portraits as requested by the group. Techniques
such as washes, color mixing, lifting, masking, and
saving white are covered. Offered: 4 Thurs, beginning Oct. 2 Time:
1:00- 4:00pm Fee: $96 / $84 Members Instructor: LINDA LORD is a
self-trained artist and illustrator with over 10 years teaching
experience in her studio and via the SC Watercolor Society; an Open
Studio artist whose exhibits include Cozumel, Mexico. Linda also
publishes with a decorative art publisher.
Color Mixing in Watercolor
If you have three green pigments, grey or black, cadmium anything,
and you are making "mud", maybe it’s time to freshen up the palette
and look at some of the newer pigments. Simplify your pallete and
learn to mix glowing colors. This two day workshop will emphasize the
mixing of greens and greys, as well as glowing reds.We will explore
the unique characteristics of yellows and play with blues. Bring your
existing pallette and a sense of humor. Some pigments will be provided

Fearless Painting - Acrylic
Cultivating the Imagination through Painting. This class helps develop
painting techniques as the groundwork to free the imagination,
Designed to inspire and jumpstart the creative process to move beyond
familiar
territory and judgement into deeper levels of expression and
experience. You’ll will be equipped with a full tool box of techniques
and knowledge of materials. We will be using acrylic paints and
mediums.Offered: 6 Mondays, beginning Oct. 20 Time: 9:00-12:00pm
Fee: $145 / $125 Members Instructor: SUSAN DORF received her BFA
from the Academy of Art in San Francisco She exhibits her work
throughout California as well as internationally. She has been
published in books, calendars, and posters, and she has taught
painting workshops throughout the state and in Europe.
Figure Sculpture - Clay
Learn to sculpt the figure from life! We will use clay and wax to
create expressive figure and portrait sculpture. Emphasis will be
placed on capturing the distinctive way the model holds him/herself,
the gesture, and the feeling the gesture expresses. If you've never
sculpted or have sculpted before, come and enjoy the time to focus on
your vision. Instructor: Debbie Simpson Debbie has a BA from U.C.
Berkeley and MA San Jose State University, Debbie has taught at
DeAnza College as well as San Jose State. She has exhibited at many
galleries and museums throughout the state of California.Offered: 6

Oil Painting Along
This class will cover the fundamentals of landscape oil painting –
palette organization, color mixing, paint application, form, space,
atmosphere, temperature, light and shadow and more. Barbara will
demonstrate and students are welcome to paint along. Level: Beginner
plus to Intermediate. Offered: 2 Tues: Nov.18, Dec. 16 Time: 2-5
Fee: $35 / $30 Members per day. Instructor: BARBARA BAILEY-PORTER
has been a painting instructor at S.F. Academy of Art (where she
received a Masters in Fine Arts), Cabrillo and DeAnza. She taught
through the Santa Cruz City School District and has been a Spectra
Artist in the gifted and talented program in the past. An Open Studio
artist, her work is found in many collections.
Pastel Studio
Develop your unique expression with the vibrant and versatile medium
of soft pastels. Topics covered are pastel approaches, value studies,
color palettes, texture, and underpainting. Still life & floral set
ups, as well as landscape photos will be provided, or bring your own
references. . Offered: 6 Fridays starting Oct. 24 Time: 9:30am to

Fine Art Brown University, MA Fine Art SJSU; CA credentialed art
instructor, painter and mixed media artist who exhibits in many
private and corporate collections inc. MAH, UCSC and Open Studios.
History Through Art
Bring a sense of discovery to a forum for sharpening observations,
exchanging insights, making discoveries about Western art and history.
We'll look at slides and do some sketching to help us look into what
we're seeing. No need to feel you're "good" at sketching, just bring a
sense of adventure and an open mind. Offered: 6 Weds. beginning Oct.

Schools and to adults at the Camphill, California Co-Worker Training
Program.
Figurative Drawing
