Broadway Playhouse

The Broadway Playhouse is the theatre located in the Santa Cruz Art League. West End Studio Theatre is the resident theatre company at the Broadway Playhouse for 2008 and is pleased to host the following community events in the Broadway Playhouse.

2nd Annual Fashion Show
SCAL's 2nd Annual Fashion Show, held on Saturday August 23rd prior to the Fiber Art Exhibit Reception, was a dramatic success. Our 62 seat theatre quickly filled to capacity and over two dozen upset people had to wait in the lobby for glimpses of the models.

We are so sorry! For those of you who missed the clever paper clothing, the Suicide Dress, the wire cage, the orange caterpillar lady, the tie skirt, and so much more, take heart.

After the show we made some decisions on how to improve our capacity for future events.

Next year we will open the theatre and the gallery doors, place chairs all around the sides in the gallery, and extend the runway through the entire length of the building, with MC's in both the theatre and gallery. That way there should be plenty of room for all!

We especially thank artist Rose Sellery for gathering this wonderful group of artists for the ReDo Fashion Show. Our thanks to Jody Alexander, Amy Bobeda, Kathleen Crocetti, Angela Gleason, Lynn Guenther & her daughter Nina, Laura Laura Dickenson, J. Rosella Myers, Michelle Stitz, Lynda Watson, Daniella Wolfe, and Tobin Keller for designing, producing, modeling, and assisting in the dozens of tasks necessary to present the show. You worked together like Velcro to craft a seamless recycled event.

Our Annual Fashion Show is fast becoming the event of the year! Mark the date on your calendar for next year, as soon as the exhibition committee tells us exactly when we'll be doing it again-always different, always fun!
